awaiting a new beginning…

August 27, 2007

After I graduated collage in 2004, I spend the next few months “finding myself” as some call it, though I don’t know if that’s exactly what I did. In any case, I did find Bikram Yoga/Hatha Yoga and boy did I take a liking to it. 90 minutes in a 105 degree room staring at yourself in the mirror balancing on one leg and stretching and pulling your body into “awkward” postures. I loved it and did it religiously for a year.

Alexis owns and runs the kaimuki studio where I practiced and helped me fine tune my postures to enter our competition. Though I strayed away from only doing yoga and branched into multilevel of activity, it was because of all the encouragement and friendly people at yoga that put my life onto the path I chose to follow.

Finally, I had the opportunity to give a little something back to the expecting couple, Alexis and Rocky.

We headed out to the beach today to capture the moments before their new bundle of joy arrives.

Rocky is so fun loving and attentive to his mommy to be …

And isn’t she just a beautiful awaiting mommy …

Alexisrockym286a

Not only that, but she can do these yoga poses, in the sand with a baby on the way, 10 times better than i can do standing on my mat in the hot room staring at myself in the mirror…

I guess i’ll be attending class on a more regular basis.

two little cuties…

August 26, 2007

Hi All,

It’s been a while, but I’ve just gotten 2 new lens and I absolutely LOVE them. I can’t imaging shooting without them ever again. I’ve gotten a chance to work with a few wonderful families lately, and here is just one of them.

Danielle402

This little girl was absolutely adorable and super fun too. We got along right off the back. She told me all about school, her friends, and how she likes to play in her castle.

Danielle172

She’s also the fastest runner in the group…she even beats out the boys! Girl Power!

Danielle513

And check out her little sister. What a doll. She was a little confused with all the new toys she had to play with, but enjoyed herself completely.

Danielle321

These two were so enjoyable to work with and you can tell that the love each other. What a great team.

Danielle067

Thanks again guys for allowing me to share the morning with you. Stay tuned there’s more to come.

A little tid bit…

August 13, 2007

So I went to Las Vegas and had this terrific idea that I’m going to bring my camera and take all these photographs of my family spending time together, seeing the sights, the works right. I lug my camera and my lenses up to the mainland, carry them around in my bag for a WEEK, and these are the shots I got:

In the atrium they have a little walk way with different landmarks from across the US. Route 66, the works. Plus the whole hotel is decorated in fresh flower arrangements.

At the Venetian there is a sea glass sealing. It’s in the lobby as you’re checking in. Super cool, and I shot this for my mom. She likes that kind of stuff.

Img_7329

The whole area is fenced off but there are the coolest arrangements, jumping water fountains, and just some really cool road side stands. Of course I’m not happy just taking the normal tourist photos, so I have to cross the lines and get the shots I thought were cool. Well kind of…some people didn’t think it was such a great idea.

Img_7333

Of course I got not a single photo of us as a group, individual, nothing. I used my sisters little point and shoot instead…go figure. This is all I have to show for my trip and it was just cause my mom asked me to shoot the ceiling that I remembered I had a camera. As you can see when I take vacation all work goes out the door!

My Other Love…

August 13, 2007

So this is the other love of my life…we’ve been hanging out on the weekends for the last year and a half. From day one, he knew my name and we’ve gotten along great.

Colepark27

He is such a good natured boy and super smart…almost too smart for his own good sometimes. He loves learning about how things work and why…why…why…why!

Colepark26

Like a typical boy, he loves his cars and his pretend fighting. Light swords, force fields, you name it he’s played it. The best thing is he plays in his own world, talking to people, making up stories, and he is totally content. One of my most favorite times is when we’re in the car driving and to hear what he comes up with, it’s amazing…and super funny.

As rough and tough as this little guys is, at the end of the day, he’ll come curl up in my lap and we’ll read books or talk story, and I always get my goodnight hug and kiss…and most importantly “I love you too!” It makes every moment with him totally worth it.

Colepark35

This is the other ‘ohana that I’ve grown to love and adore. Their son is a breath of fresh air, and I thank them for allowing me the opportunity to spend so much time with him.

“the boys…”

August 11, 2007

Hi All,

Well, I just got back from Las Vegas, and boy did I have a great time. My grandma has been waiting to get all the “girls” in our family together for a weekend of fun. My sister finally turned 21 and took her trip with grandma to Las Vegas, so it was time for the “girls” to have their time together. My mom, sister, aunty, cousin, grandma and myself met in Vegas for a week of fun. We gambled, shopped, ate, and gambled some more. We also saw “Mama Mia” which I totally LOVED. I won some I lost some, but in the end I had an awesome time getting to know my family for the individuals they are. Plus I totally LOVE my grandma and enjoy spending any time I can with her. So thank you again grandma for a wonderful break from reality and I can’t wait to do it again soon.

Yes, even after spending all those sleepless nights on the craps table, I still found the energy to play with my boys this weekend. This little guy is a constant in my world, and I’m sure you all know who he is by now.

Naokua009

This is my friend Aimee’s little boy, and the newest member of our lil gang.

Naokua006

And of course the other love of my life. He couldn’t play in the water today, but he was still having a blast playing ref to the other two.

Naokua063

We let them play with a little pool in the back yard. One second they’re just sitting down just playing nicely with each other, the next second they found that spitting water out of their mouths made for the best water guns.

Naokua034

And of course he got even. Boys will be Boys!

Naokua048

It was another awesome afternoon with “the boys” and we can only hope for many more to come. They all get along well with each other and call each other “my friend”. Plus the girls all like hanging out together. Friends from high school, Aimee and Robs are two people who know me well and two people I can always be myself around. Thanks girls for the many years of memories we’ve made and the many more we have to come.

super cute sisters

August 6, 2007

Hi All,

Yes, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to post something new, but here it is. I got the wonderful opportunity to hang out with these guys yesterday. Thanks Cindy!

Donna135

They’re visiting from the mainland and wanted to do something fun. Aren’t these girls gorgeous!!

Donna364

Amazingly beautiful and super fun. I had an awesome time and I hope they did too.

So this lil cutie has a bf back at home. And she’s going to show him her photos. What a lucky kid.

Donna105

And here’s her lil sis. She’s a doll too. I’m sure the boys go wild for her too.

Donna123

Both adorable girls, we had fun acting out our version of “America’s next top model” and as you can see, either girl could be it.

Donna348

Look out mom, they’re getting older!

Donna314

They’re a family full of love for each other, having a wonderful time in Hawaii visiting grandma and friends. I’d like to thank them for allowing me some time getting to know them and for playing with Cole too. I hope they enjoy the rest of their trip and I’m sure we’ll cross paths in the future.

Donna179

As for me, I’m off to the 9th state, Las Vegas, with my ‘ohana. It’s a girls weekend. Grandma, my aunty and her daughter, and my mom, my sister, and of course me! Grandma’s been waiting for a while to get all us girls together and today she gets her wish. I on the other hand still need to pack, which is so typical of me!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week and wish me luck in Vegas!
